Centre of Excellence for Semiconductor Lighting & Displays

houses state-of-the-art facilities for semiconductor device epitaxy, fabrication and testing, which includes the showerhead III-N Metal-Organic Chemical Vapour Deposition (MOCVD) and organic molecular beam epitaxy (MBE). The Centre provides full capabilities for the epitaxial growth of III-N and metal-oxide films and organics, as well as the synthesis of colloidal nanocrystals for solid-state lighting, displays and other optoelectronic applications. LUMINOUS! also has available a complete LED fabrication line (including laser-lift-off and laser scribing) and material-to-device characterisation (including thickness, sheet resistance and photoluminescence mapping, fluorescent lifetime imaging, electroluminescence and LED absolute efficiency measurements with integrating spheres). The core competencies and cutting edge technology developed at LUMINOUS! include InGaN/GaN LEDs, white LEDs, nanocrystal LEDs and OLEDs for lighting and displays, nanocrystal quantum dots nanophosphors, transparent conductors and electronics, electrochromics for smart windows, as well as low power displays.
